What credit card would you recommend for a college student?

I am not planning on carrying any balance. I just want to build my credit history. I am making enough money to cover any purchases and plan to pay in full each month, so I don’t really care about the interest rate.

Credit Card?

A lot of doubt in my mind asked:


I asked a question about a credit card company deny my application because I am not a Permanent Resident. After couple of months, I apply for the same company and told them that I am a PR and they sent me the Credit card. (My credit history is perfect) What are they really checking? Credit history or present status of a person? By saying this information is it right or wrong?

How do you calculate your debt to credit ratio?

I want to get a secured credit card for the amount that would look good to lenders like “this person pays on time and has a valuable credit history w/some lenders” (ie my dell account is on there which is good and the secured card would add to it).

Am I making sense? How can I do this? I’d rather not pay off the measley 1k, it should be removed within a few years anyway.
